Yes, for everyday use: a properly fitted acrylic window with its locks closed is a sturdy, weather-tight barrier. It would be dishonest to call any campervan window burglar-proof, glass or acrylic. What matters is that the window resists casual force, stays shut and keeps your belongings out of sight.

How strong is acrylic compared with glass?
Acrylic takes a knock well: it flexes rather than shattering, so a blow that could crack glass is often simply absorbed. On a double-glazed window there are two acrylic panes to get through, not one.
Glass is harder on the surface and resists scratches better, but when it fails it can crack or shatter. Acrylic is softer, so clean it gently with plenty of water and a microfibre cloth.

Why a well-fitted window cannot simply be popped out
A EuroVan window is not held by a rubber seal alone: it is bonded and clamped into the wall. That fitting method is a large part of its security.
- The opening is cut with a jigsaw and lined with a wooden batten frame, 25 mm minimum on a panel van.
- The window is bedded in Sikaflex 265, a polyurethane adhesive sealant for structural bonding of glazing.
- A reinforced aluminium counter-frame is screwed from inside, clamping the wall between the two frames.

How do EuroVan campervan windows lock?
Every EuroVan window is latched from the inside; the difference is how you can leave it open. This table sums up the locking and ventilation options.

A sliding window is the easiest one to leave ventilating when you walk away: the pane stays inside the frame, flush with the bodywork, and the lock holds it in place.
Why privacy is your first line of defence
Opportunists target what they can see, so a window that hides the interior protects your van as much as a lock does. A dark tint lets daylight in while keeping the inside discreet from outside.
- Dark tint (30% light transmission): VanShade, VanSquare, VanCurve, VanSlide and VanSlide Square.
- Light grey tint (70%): VanLight and VanSlide+, for a brighter interior; close the blind when you leave.
- Blackout blind: every window with an interior frame comes with one, so nothing is visible once it is closed.
Choose a dark tint on the street side and at the rear doors, and a light tint where you want the most daylight.
Are the windows the weak point of a campervan?
Windows are only one part of your van's security, alongside the doors, the cab and your habits. A correctly fitted window is bonded, clamped and sealed all round, so it deserves the same attention as the rest, not more.
Look at the whole picture: good locks on the side and rear doors, a locked cab, no valuables on display and a thoughtful choice of parking spot. Combined, these make far more difference than the choice between acrylic and glass.

Simple habits that add real peace of mind
You do not need to over-engineer your van to feel secure. A few habits make the biggest difference:
- Latch every window before leaving. A half-latched window is the easiest thing to overlook, so make it part of locking up.
- Draw the blinds when you are away. If nothing is visible, there is nothing to tempt a passer-by.
- Keep valuables out of sight, and out of the van where possible.
- Park thoughtfully: busy, well-lit, overlooked spots deter opportunists.
- Maintain seals and latches. Keep sliding tracks free of grit and check that each window closes cleanly.
Replacing a worn caravan or motorhome window
