What you will need: Armaflex AF tape to seal the joints, Armaflex Cleaner to degrease the panels before laying, a cutter and a roller.

Choosing the right thickness

6 mm — floors under a subfloor, wheel arches, and any panel where height matters more than performance.
10 mm — the usual compromise for walls and the inside of ribs.
19 mm — walls and ceiling on a van used in winter; the thickness most full conversions settle on.
25 mm — maximum insulation, where you can afford the lost centimetres: ceiling, cab bulkhead.

Count the surface to cover, then add about 10 % for cuts. A full L2H2 van takes roughly 30 m² of foam, plus one roll of AF tape per 5 m² to seal the joints.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still need a vapour barrier? No. Armaflex AF is its own vapour barrier, provided every joint is sealed with AF tape and the foam is laid directly on the metal, with no air gap behind it.

Can I lay it over an existing insulation? It is made to go on bare, clean, dry metal. Any air trapped between two layers is where condensation will form.

How much do I need for my van? About 20 m² for an L1H1, 30 m² for an L2H2 and 40 m² for an L3H3, cuts included. A question or a doubt? Our technical team will answer you.
